A smaller, quieter cousin to Chris’s larger forest stream paintings — here the rushing water tumbles through grey granite boulders beneath violet-toned trees and a soft glow of light. A budding branch leans in at the edge of the frame, hinting at the first stirrings of spring even as the bones of winter still show in the bare trees. Compact in scale but full of movement, this piece captures that fleeting transitional moment in the Ontario wilderness between seasons. Sold @ McMichael Gallery, Kleinburg, Ontario
