Forest to Sea is a developing body of work inspired by the hidden relationships that connect forest ecosystems to the sea. Each Field Note begins with a hand-drawn composition built from hundreds of individual marks. From this shared framework, every painting evolves differently, much like the endless variation found in the natural world.

Inspired by the temperate rainforest and the tiny worlds beneath every rock, log and leaf, the series considers the things we see, and the things we only imagine we see, within the dense, secretive world of the forest.

Cutaway brings together my fascination with paper, my obsession with the human profile, and my background in graphic design. Through layered paper, bold shapes, and graphic portraiture, the series explores identity, connection, and the ways we see ourselves in one another.

Each work is built through cutting, layering, and simplifying, reducing the portrait to its essential forms while allowing unexpected relationships to emerge between color, shape, and figure.

Cutaway includes both original works and limited editions.

VOM + JJ is a sub-series of Cutaway bringing together my visual work with music from Voice of Maasai. Built from layers of cut paper, bold graphics, and imagery drawn from the music, each limited-edition work becomes a visual interpretation of a song and the story it carries.

Inspired by the familiar 12-inch format of vinyl record covers, the series reflects my love of album art and the connection between what we see, what we hear, and what we remember.

Paper People grew from time spent with the Maasai and a term I encountered there for foreigners: “paper people.” I was drawn to the phrase and what it suggested about vulnerability, difference, and the ways we perceive one another.

Each stylized slab is formed from upcycled paper pulp and found embellishments, transforming fragile, humble materials into objects that feel both refined and weathered. Their surfaces suggest artifacts or remnants of something once known, carrying traces of beauty, decay, and time.

The series reflects on vulnerability, imperfection, and what remains as people, places, and materials change.

Civil Speed, part of the Perceptions Through Illustrated Light series, explores the patterns, movement, and pace of modern life. Each work begins with long-exposure photography, capturing trails of light created by the movement of people, traffic, and the built environment.

I layer these photographs with vector illustrations and graphic elements, using the captured light as both structure and evidence of a moment already passed. The series reflects on the speed of everyday life and the patterns we create as we move through it, often without noticing them.

The Social Portrait is a series of large-scale portraits celebrating the individuality and presence of women from around the world. Created in gouache and ink, each work focuses on the woman herself, using expressive line, color, and scale to create a portrait that feels both personal and immediate.

First exhibited in recognition of International Women’s Day in 2013, the series grew from my interest in portraiture and in the stories, experiences, and perspectives carried by individual women.

Original works are created on Arches paper at 44.5 × 36 inches.

My Print on Poverty grew from my early interest in using visual art to examine poverty, equity, and social mobility. Through graphic imagery, portraiture, and text, the series considers the individual stories and human experiences that can easily become lost behind statistics and assumptions.

Rather than offering simple answers, the work asks viewers to look more closely at how we see poverty, opportunity, and one another. At its center is a belief in human dignity and in art's ability to open conversation around difficult subjects.
