Paper People grew from time spent with the Maasai and a term I encountered there for foreigners: “paper people.” I was drawn to the phrase and what it suggested about vulnerability, difference, and the ways we perceive one another.

Each stylized slab is formed from upcycled paper pulp and found embellishments, transforming fragile, humble materials into objects that feel both refined and weathered. Their surfaces suggest artifacts or remnants of something once known, carrying traces of beauty, decay, and time.

The series reflects on vulnerability, imperfection, and what remains as people, places, and materials change.
