There is something beautiful about it, but not necessarily welcoming. It carries the presence of a deep-water creature that has surfaced only far enough to be seen—elegant, slightly alien, and completely aware that you are looking at it.
Its attitude is simple:
You were allowed to see me. That does not mean you were invited closer.
Description
The Sentinel rises vertically through a field of midnight blue, indigo, violet, and icy white, its broad fluid forms opening around a narrow central structure that feels almost anatomical.
Running through that center is a dimensional trail of hand-formed quilling. Tight spirals, pointed leaves, coils, and elongated shapes in turquoise, lavender, navy, white, and pale mint climb through the composition like bioluminescent growth, ceremonial armor, or some unfamiliar internal system revealed beneath the surface.
The acrylic movement gives the piece its body.
The quilling gives it its identity.
From a distance, the painting feels organic and almost floral. Closer inspection changes that. The dark forms become stranger, the central structure more deliberate, and the small dimensional details begin to feel less decorative and more like evidence of something living beneath the color.
The Sentinel does not feel frozen. It feels still by choice—watching from somewhere between deep water, night, and whatever comes just beyond recognition.
