Intervals explores the spaces between; moments of pause, transition, reflection, and renewal.


Life is shaped not only by major milestones, but by the quiet stretches between them. These spaces can hold memory, movement, stillness, uncertainty, connection, and transformation.


For this group exhibition, artists were invited to interpret “the space between” in their own way. Between people, seasons, memories, places, identities, or certainty and possibility. Through painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fiber, ceramics, installation, and other practices, each work offers a unique perspective on what happens in these intervals.


As Indianapolis moves from summer into the slower rhythm of winter, Intervals invites us to pause, observe, and reconnect through art. On display from September to December 6th. 


Presented in partnership with theERA, this exhibition reflects a shared commitment to supporting artists and fostering meaningful connections through the arts in Indiana and beyond.

Artworks

Slightly Warmer Depicted in this piece are abstracted images of cordiceps and fungi taking over the landscape, as well as a tarantula body it has infected and destroyed. This piece connects to the exhibition in the way that we all do as organic creatures: we die. I created this piece as a way to confront my fears of climate change and things out of my control, while also admiring nature and it's perfect systems.

About the artist

Abby Jo Elle

Abby Jo Elle is an artist born and raised in the Indianapolis area. Her love of the arts was enriched at the University of Indianapolis, where she studied and received a BS in pre-art therapy with minors in painting and psychology. After discovering ceramics her senior year, she practices clay in all aspects of her life. With 6+ years of experience being a studio technician and caregiver, her art is motivated by the practice of grounding herself through clay, fostering community and connection in a “chronically online” world.


Embellishing the day to day rituals of nerds, nature lovers, and/or spooky connoisseurs, Abby creates both functional and sculptural work. She currently showcases her work in various galleries, conventions, and artisan markets.
