Intervals explores the spaces between; moments of pause, transition, reflection, and renewal.


Life is shaped not only by major milestones, but by the quiet stretches between them. These spaces can hold memory, movement, stillness, uncertainty, connection, and transformation.


For this group exhibition, artists were invited to interpret “the space between” in their own way. Between people, seasons, memories, places, identities, or certainty and possibility. Through painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fiber, ceramics, installation, and other practices, each work offers a unique perspective on what happens in these intervals.


As Indianapolis moves from summer into the slower rhythm of winter, Intervals invites us to pause, observe, and reconnect through art. On display from September to December 6th. 


Presented in partnership with theERA, this exhibition reflects a shared commitment to supporting artists and fostering meaningful connections through the arts in Indiana and beyond.

The title “Frequency Shifting “ is a reference to the energy field of the artwork that resonates with the viewer. There may be an interval of remembering a place in time or another interval of feeling shifted into future moments. The triangle is a reference to the number 3 which is a catalyst of shifting into new possibilities.

About the artist

Susan Brewer

Susan Brewer – I have operated a studio in the Historic Stutz Building for 22 years in downtown Indianapolis. Indiana. I am an abstract expressionist artist with a focus on producing large format canvases and works on paper for residential and commercial spaces. I also do commissioned work designed for specific spaces through consultations to create work that is original for each client.
My work follows the impulse of the imagination, and is inspired by dreams and meditations that relate to an inner dialogue of my personal experience of the world. I work through a process of developing layers of color, texture and suggested forms to build images through a visual language that I have created to structure my
compositions. My work as an artist explores the human condition - one's relationship to the environment, to others and to oneself. Each composition is relevant to my life at the moment , an energy field of communication that becomes personal to each viewer.
I previously worked for the Evan Lurie Gallery, curating the gallery during the last 4 years of business until the closing in August of 2021. I returned in August of 2022 to begin establishing a new gallery in the space for Jason O'Neil the owner of Circle Real Estate. Working as a curator has contributed immensely to my process as an artist because conversations about art become an avenue for further expression in my artwork.
