Much like the hotel, a place of constant change and arrival, Thresholds explores the idea of crossing points, beginnings, release, and transformation. A threshold can be a turning point, the moment when one state of being gives way to another.
Crossings can be tender, radical, or difficult. They can be personal or collective. The artists displayed here remind us that moving between grief and joy, silence and voice, destruction and renewal is itself a creative act.
Notice the various materials: clay, stone, glass, wood, metal, photography, and paint. Each carries its own weight and history. Each artist draws from their lived experience, seasons changing, the in between; ancestry, activism, artistry, or imagination, while expanding on what a threshold can mean.
Thresholds can be physical (crossings), emotional (grief to healing), or spiritual (chaos to calm, past to future). Consider what threshold you are standing at in your own life. Does a work call you to pause, to grieve, to celebrate, or to reimagine possibility?
The art in Thresholds does not stop at the gallery walls, it invites you to continue the conversations.
