Martha A. Wade is a Chicago-based visual artist, storyteller, and keeper of legacies whose mixed media practice celebrates resilience, identity, and the beauty of the human spirit. The daughter of the late Eugene “Eda” Wade—pioneering muralist of Chicago’s Black Arts Movement—she honors his legacy by incorporating his prints and sketches into layered works using oil, acrylic, ink, paper collage, and metal leaf on natural wood. Wade stepped fully into her artistic career in 2025 and now serves as Chief Curator at Local Soul at Navy Pier, Creative Director at Connect Gallery in Hyde Park, and a Board Member of the South Side Community Art Center. Her curatorial and artistic work has been showcased internationally, including at the 2025 Venice Biennale and SCOPE during Art Basel Miami, as she continues to champion art as a transformative tool for community, intergenerational connection, and the celebration of the human spirit.
