“Anamnesis” comes from the Greek word meaning "recollection" or "unforgetting." In classical philosophy, anamnesis is the process of remembering what the soul already knows but has lost touch with. That concept struck something deep in me.
This work began as a meditation on memory, not just personal memory, but collective, inherited memory. The kind passed down through gesture, trauma, silence. As I worked, it became clear that this show isn’t just about remembering the past. It’s about reclaiming the self before distortion. Before shame. Before we internalized the stories told about us instead of the ones we hold within.
