"An authentic and sovereign charcoal drawing by František Gross from 1949 captures the industrial landscape of the urban periphery, which was the central theme of Group 42. The composition is dominated by the horizontal silhouette of a factory complex with typical verticals of smoking chimneys, which is dramatically intersected in the right part by a monumental, sharply cut structure of an electric pole and a truss beam. Gross masterfully uses the rawness of charcoal here to express a heavy industrial atmosphere, where the cross structures of wire fences in the foreground intertwine with the geometric order of the technical age. The work stands out with its energetic drawing gesture and is a great example of the author's transition from wartime anthropomorphic machines to the pure constructivist veduta of the late 1940s. Signed by the author at the bottom right."

„Autentická a suverénní uhelná kresba Františka Grosse z roku 1949 zachycuje průmyslovou krajinu městské periferie, která byla ústředním tématem Skupiny 42. Kompozici dominuje horizontální silueta továrního komplexu s typickými vertikálami kouřících komínů, kterou v pravé části dramaticky protíná monumentální, ostře řezaná konstrukce elektrického sloupu a příhradového nosníku. Gross zde mistrovsky využívá syrovost uhlu k vyjádření těžké industriální atmosféry, kde se křížové struktury drátěných plotů v popředí proplétají s geometrickým řádem technického věku. Práce vyniká energickým kresebným gestem a je skvělou ukázkou autorova přechodu od válečných antropomorfních strojků k čisté konstruktivistické vedutě konce 40. let. Signováno autorem vpravo dole.“
