"The impressive mixed media from 1946 represents an iconic and stylistically perfectly defined example of František Gross's work within the program of Group 42. The composition is dominated by the author's lifelong theme - an anthropomorphic machine, in which the human being is absolutely merged with a mechanical machine. Here, with drawing sovereignty, Gross constructs an anthropomorphic figure from gears, rods, valves and industrial elements. A dark, dramatic charcoal or ink contour emerges from an earthy, ochre-brown background, while the background around the figure is condensed into a deep dark cloud, which gives the composition a distinctive plastic volume. The work is a great example of post-war civilism and fascination with the technical age. Signed and dated by the author at the bottom right."

„Působivá kombinovaná technika z roku 1946 představuje ikonickou a stylově dokonale vyhraněnou ukázku tvorby Františka Grosse v rámci programu Skupiny 42. Kompozici dominuje autorovo celoživotní téma – antropomorfní strojek, v němž dochází k absolutnímu splynutí lidské bytosti s mechanickým soustrojím. Gross zde s kresebnou suverenitou konstruuje antropomorfní figuru z ozubených kol, táhel, ventilů a průmyslových prvků. Tmavá, dramatická uhelná nebo tušová kontura vystupuje ze zemitého, okrově hnědého podkladu, přičemž pozadí kolem figury je zahuštěno do hlubokého temného mračna, které dává kompozici výrazný plastický objem. Práce je skvělým příkladem poválečného civilismu a okouzlení technickým věkem. Signováno a datováno autorem vpravo dole.“
