Fourteen wind turbines follow the curve of a Maui ridge, each catching low-angle sunlight. They stand in strategic alignment, positioned to harness the prevailing wind. Presented in high-contrast black and white, the scene is both stark and inspiring. An ominous cloud bank hangs above the contour of the ridge, tracking the turbines’ line and infusing the scene with a sense of kinetic force—air already in motion, energy already at work.
Wind energy is nothing new—it is among the oldest forces harnessed by humans—but in the 21st century it returns with new scale and more power. Line of Force captures a moment of visual and technological drama, where the land, the weather, and human infrastructure seem perfectly aligned. In the storm’s shadow and the sun’s light, renewal of a centuries-old energy paradigm takes its place along the spine of the land.
