Three power poles stretch skyward in stark silhouette, framed by a backdrop of high-contrast cloud and diffused light. The camera’s upward gaze exaggerates their height and form, revealing a geometry that feels both familiar and obstructive. The dominant pole, just off-centre, catches the light in a way that renders it almost surreal—part of the urban sky, yet unquestionably artificial.
These poles and wires are a vital part of our society’s energy supply—so ubiquitous they often vanish from conscious view in our daily lives. Their visual persistence mirrors their functional role: always present, always necessary, and necessarily common. Look Up invites us to break our assumption that our electricity comes from nowhere, to recognize what powers our world by doing something simple but unusual: looking up.
