Born in Pittsburgh and educated at Carnegie-Mellon University, Linda Fleming is best known for her abstract sculpture in wood. Currently Professor of Sculpture at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, she was the recipient of this institution's Distinguished Faculty Award in 1993. Fleming's teaching career has included time spent at the Maryland Institute, the Minneapolis College of Art ( and Design, San Francisco University and the San Francisco Art Institute. Her solo and group exhibitions have appealed to art lovers from coast to coast for over three decades, and in Colorado have included a number of gallery exhibits and installations in Denver, Arvada, Colorado Springs, Boulder and Aspen. Her public installations can be found on campuses and in parks in Oregon; Minnesota, California, Texas, Arizona, Maryland and New York.
