About the artist

Lin Emery

1926-2021

As a kinetic sculptor, Lin emery's primary concern is with the movement of her sculptural forms in space. The reciprocal movement among her sculptural elements owes much to technological invention and experimentation. Emery had perfected a special ball bearing assembly that enables linked elements to travel on several planes simultaneously while rotating a full 360 degrees. while she calculates in advance the possible movement of every element in a sculpture, the activating force-wind, water, touch-is unpredictable and adds the charmed element of spontaneity to a random dance that captures our attention and inspires our imagination with a constantly changing display of beauty and grace. Currently serving on the Board of Directors of the International Sculptural Center and a member of the International Women's Forum, Lin Emery is a resident of New Orleans whose prolific career has taken her around the world as exhibitor, public artist, advisor and lecturer.
