3.02 SHADOW WARRIOR /Ocean Monk was developed by combining the watercolor BLACK MIST and the casual snapshot of a terracotta warrior casting a shadow on an oil painting of mountain clifts and overlaying the pair on the photograph of a monk in a white robe standing on the shore at Jenner CA. The juxtapositions provide a basis for interpolating between good and evil, or to reflect on redemption and transformation. The texture of the waves inform the painting, which in turn lends color to the B+W photograph.
