Dunn Healing Arts Gallery

Houston Methodist presents Natural Reflections showcasing 31 talented employees and physicians from throughout the system. These photographs represent personal interpretations of the ICARE values during the unprecedented year of 2020. This exhibition finds sources of beauty in the flora and fauna of a backyard or patio; in sunrises, cloud formations and sunsets as seen from windows, balconies and rooftops; in animals, birds, butterflies and rocks or in the lakes and coastal areas near and far. Take a moment to appreciate these images of the natural and man-made environments in much the same way that the artists found solace in the process of capturing them.

Here and Now, this year’s celebration of photography at Houston Methodist, asks participants to focus on the present. The creative process of capturing an image—from choosing the subject matter to discovering new angles to manipulating light—requires absolute attention on the here and now. These moments of mindfulness allow us to be conscious of our surroundings and provide time to acknowledge and accept the moment. We encourage you to fully take in the experience you are capturing, allowing your mind to become quiet and peaceful. Photography gives you a chance to choose your perspective. 2022 Boundless Future

Boundless Future, the 2022 Healing Arts Exhibition at Houston Methodist, focuses on possibilities without limitations. Dreams, reflections, visualizations offer us opportunities to see infinite potential ahead. Among the images presented a viewer may see a duality of vision – shadows are paired with brightness and a sign of hope.
Boundless Future is epitomized in the numerous species of flora and fauna in the environment; in the waters of the bayous, rivers, and oceans; or in the clouds and stars of the heavens above us. These photographs are representative interpretations of Houston Methodist’s ICARE values as experienced while focusing on the inspiration of the natural world. Enjoying the bountiful night sky, the dynamic rhythms of the seacoast or the peaceful revelations of fields and forests gives credence and promise for abundant prospects as we envision the future.

Houston Methodist presents Interconnected showcasing 32 talented employees, physicians, and volunteers from throughout the system. Our personal efforts to maintain our individualism can be misunderstood as avoiding connection. In truth, we desire and require opportunities to share our experiences. We create numerous ways of being affiliated with family, friends, associates, and the natural environment.

Through the camera lens, Interconnected shares the artists’ exploration of the elements in a kindred relationship with nature whether in the backyard environment of a home, on a wilderness walk or in the far-reaching vistas of a travel experience. Perhaps these images will inspire you to explore interconnections for yourself. Natural Harmony explores the ways in which we find balance and harmony in our day-to-day lives. Photographers shared the peaceful moments found in a backyard garden, from a healing walk or a breathtaking travel experience.
