The storm has moved through. What’s left is this — a shaft of pale light breaking through swirling cloud and falling straight down the centre of the water, the forested islands sitting dark and still on the horizon, the lake settling back into itself. Chris painted storms often, but this is something rarer: the moment after, when the light comes back and everything is quiet again.
