Unsigned; inscribed on verso by the Estate of Chris James Cooper This work depicts the wind-sculpted pines and pale granite of Killarney Provincial Park, Ontario, a landscape Cooper returned to repeatedly for its dramatic interplay of rock, water, and sky. The composition draws the eye along a low, sweeping shoreline toward a luminous band of dusk light on the horizon, with slender pines bent seaward by the prevailing wind — a motif closely tied to the region’s Group of Seven legacy. Left unsigned in the studio at the time of the artist’s death in 2010, this piece has been authenticated and inscribed by the estate manager as part of the ongoing cataloguing of Chris James Cooper’s body of work.
