This collection is about the metamorphosis process. I am very interested in seeing what happens when a metamorphosis is not fully completed; I want to see the threshold of metamorphosis. In the history of painting, we have known several interpretations of metamorphosis: the metamorphosis described by Ovid in his book Metamorphoses from over 2,000 years ago, and the paintings by Titian, Caravaggio, Correggio, Rubens, Poussin, Rembrandt, up to Dalí, Victor Brauner, Picasso, and Andrew Parker. Metamorphosis as a completed process is also represented in sculpture and classical art, visual arts and painting, performing arts and dance, and literature (as Ovid did with his Metamorphoses book, which is actually a poem). All of the above are about a completed metamorphosis, except for the writer Franz Kafka, whose description is about the metamorphosis threshold before it is completed. I aim to hit that threshold with intensity, determination, power, and expression.
