This print captures my first visit to Cordelia Flat in Beatty, Oregon, named for my great-grandmother Cordelia George. My family called this place home until the Klamath Termination Act of 1954 severed our people's federal recognition and authorized the sale of our reservation lands, scattering families and breaking connections that had sustained us for generations. The copper plate bears witness to both loss and return—the field where my grandmother played as a child, the stories she carried forward through decades of displacement, and the ground that waited for our footsteps to find it again. When the Klamath Restoration Act was signed in 1986, reestablishing our sovereignty, places like Cordelia Flat transformed from memory back into homeland. The etched lines map not just the contours of this particular landscape, but the pathways between what was lost and what endures. Each mark pressed into metal carries the weight of my grandmother's stories, the persistence of place-names that held our history when everything else was taken, and the profound act of returning to land that never forgot our connection to it.
