Zaira González Beas is a multidisciplinary artist from Jalisco, Mexico. Her practice moves fluidly across fashion, jewelry, and design, extending into the visual arts through painting, photography, and textiles. Her material and visual explorations engage with abstraction, the passage of time, the body, natural and architectural landscapes, photographic processes, dyeing, and natural fibers.
Educated at ITESO in Guadalajara and Istituto Marangoni in Milan, González Beas has developed an artistic language centered on impermanence, traces, and the dialogue between geometric and organic forms, reflecting upon her own lived experience.
Contemplative in nature, her work encourages a sustained gaze toward what often goes unnoticed. In her visual language, abstraction does not reject reality; instead, it distills it to its essence. She conceives of her practice as a loom, weaving together diverse forms of expression through a textile sensibility—not only as a medium, but also as a way of thinking.
Informed by her research into Eastern aesthetics and her curiosity about the materials, techniques, and traditions of different cultures, her work embraces the elegance of handcrafted processes, poetic abstraction, and the presence of the ephemeral as a visual language.
The multiple layers she juxtaposes—material, conceptual, sonic, and emotional—reveal a palette of dissolving gray tones that creates atmospheres of subtlety and suspension. Within this mist, vivid red occasionally emerges as a direct reference to the female body, its cycles, memories, and wounds. From this intimate perspective, González Beas weaves a narrative about impermanence, traces, and a sensitive way of inhabiting the world.
