Mostafa Eissa (b. 1955) is an Egyptian visual artist, art critic, and academic. He holds a PhD in fine arts from Alexandria University and has been active in the Egyptian art scene since his graduation in 1979.

With a prolific career spanning over four decades, Eissa has held 18 solo exhibitions and participated in over 200 group exhibitions both in Egypt and abroad. His works are held in private and museum collections in Egypt and internationally.

He has received numerous awards in his academic specialisation, including the First Prize at the 2nd Small Works Exhibition, the Grand Prize in the Future of Egypt competition, and the Grand Prize at the 2nd Port Said International Biennale (1998).

In parallel to his artistic practice, Eissa has been writing art criticism for nearly 25 years. He organised and directed academic symposia on art criticism from 2003 to 2015 in Qatar. He has authored several books on art criticism, including monographs on Egyptian artists Ahmed Nawar and Mostafa Abdel Moati, as well as Fetnat El-Mutawari (The Seduction of the Veiled). He has also contributed studies to collective publications on artists Abdel Hadi El-Gazzar and Said El-Adawi.

Eissa serves as a permanent member of the Ahmed Nawar Prize for Painting committee and was a member of the Criticism Committee at the Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts in 2022.

Through his dual practice as an artist and critic, Mostafa Eissa continues to enrich Egypt's contemporary art and cultural discourse.
