Born 1952 in Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts Faculty of Alexandria University Sculpture Section 1976 and obtained his Ph.D in fine arts, Helwan University 1998.
Sayed Abdou Sleem is a prominent, award-winning Egyptian sculptor and academic and is recognized as one of Egypt's master sculptors, renowned for his expressive works in bronze and stone. In 2026, Sleem was awarded the prestigious Egyptian State Appreciation Award in Arts (جائزة الدولة التقديرية ) . Sleem specializes in bronze, marble, and granite sculpture, his work, frequently, represents and is in dialogue with Egyptian heritage, peaceful animal forms (such as cats and horses), and abstract human concepts. Sleem has actively represented Egypt in monumental international forums, including the Cairo Biennale, the India Triennale, and various major Egyptian art exhibitions across Europe, such as in Rome and Paris.
