Having a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Design from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, Wendi learned all about structural systems colliding with color and materials. This helped propel her career the following decade, after which she raised her family and crafted a world in words. Each year since she's created art that reflects where she's been and how she interprets what she experiences using acrylic paint, texture, and other materials. She currently resides in the Detroit, Michigan area.
About
I am an acrylic painter curious about faith and spirituality, or lack of either, and its effects on the evolution of the human soul from birth to death and beyond.
How a human’s existence changes over the course of a lifetime, differ as we each go through a culmination of events that affects us deeply. Our experiences and choices have a profound impact on our personality, perceptions, and how we navigate life. Often it instills a sense of fear that can cripple us. It can rob us of our greatest potential and purpose or bring us the greatest joy.
I opened myself to find the divine in daily interactions, stories, encounters, and energy. These events might be considered Godly, supernatural, magical, or even mundane, but I have a deep-seated belief that these events are transformative. These moments offer us the opportunity to be enlightened, to see the beauty right in front of us, and discover better possibilities.
Together, we can uplift one another and recognize we are all on a transformative journey. I believe the soul traverses through many landscapes of our own making, and we all stand on a precipice of our choices every day. Each can offer growth or stagnation, which can reflect on how to navigate future paths.
Through my work, I create pieces that reflect the metamorphosis our soul experiences, the struggles we overcome, and the triumphs we see over a lifetime. Within my portfolio, my work will reference the journey of our souls across the landscape of life.
