Martha Zelt, also known as Martie Zelt, was an American printmaker, painter and educator. She was born November 16, 1930 in Washington, Pennsylvania. She studied at Temple University; Connecticut College; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia; as well as the New School for Social Research (NYC) under Antonio Frasconi; The Museum of Modern Art in Sao Paulo under Johnny Friedlaender; and the University of New Mexico under Garo Antreasian. 

Her work has appeared in numerous group exhibitions within the U.S. and across the world, and she was the recipient of various awards and scholarships (including the 1954 Cresson Traveling Scholarship, the Scheidt memorial travelling award, a 1965 fellowship from Philadelphia's Print Club, and a 1982 Grant from the Roswell Museum and Art Center).

She also taught as a professor at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia College of the Arts, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a visiting professor at the University of Delaware, and was the Chair of the art department at Virginia Intermont College. She died on May 11, 2023 at 92 years old.
