I encountered artmaking a couple of times twenty to forty years ago, but it wasn’t a part of my life. A consequence of my cancer diagnosis was meeting the Art Therapy program at University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center. I learned how art could be a resource of processing, release and relief. I don’t know what I would have done without that outlet.
After I found my footing in the world of patienthood, artmaking became a joy in and of itself. I started learning and experimenting and exploring and "playing", and I often made things that delighted me.
It is such a pleasure to share my art with you. Some pieces are from long ago, some are art therapy pieces, and some pieces are very recent. I hope that the joy I’ve had putting this show together touches you for a moment.
