About the artist

Robert Sherer

American

b. 1957

Internationally exhibiting American visual artist and activist. Multimedia art explores race, gender, and sexual identity. Best known for use of unconventional media, namely HIV+ blood and pyrography. Began creating works with blood after an incident with an X-acto razor caused blood to spew from his leg. Since then, he has used his own blood and that of an anonymous friend to create his works.
