About the artist

Summer Wheat

American

b. 1977

Summer Wheat was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her Bachelor of Arts degree was earned from the University of Central Oklahoma and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is currently living in New York, creating paintings, multifaceted sculptures, and immersive installations featuring figuration and abstraction while spanning fine art and craft. She creates narrative works focusing on modern issues such as gender and class inequality. Each is characterized by vibrant colors and unique tactile textures.
