Ernest Trova

American

1927-2009

Ernest Trova (1927–2009) was an American painter and sculptor, widely recognized in the 1960s and 1970s for his surrealist and pop art creations. Born in Missouri, Trova was a self-taught artist whose work was first exhibited at the St. Louis Art Museum when he was just 20 years old. Trova is best known for his Falling Man series, which features an armless, pot-bellied male figure representing modern humanity.
