Lynne Chadwick was a British sculptor, who originally studied architecture. This interest in building a form eventually led him to become more interested in sculpture. He is known for his unique method of improvising a sculpture without any sketches or preliminary plans. Chadwick has represented Britain at the Venice Biennale and is the youngest recipient of the International Sculpture Prize. His first show was in 1962 of his sculpture, Two Winged Figures. Chadwick later became a Commander of the Order of the British Empire and a Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres.
