About the artist

Jim Dine

American

b. 1935

Jim Dine was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1935 and is an American painter, graphic artist, sculptor, and poet whose career extends over 6- years. He is a significant figure of Pop Art and pioneering member of ""Happenings,"an early form of performance art. Dine studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and at Ohio University. His persistent themes included personal identity, memory, and the body, often using nostalgic subjects that have a child-like appeal, such as tools, birds, and hearts. Dine’s work is featured in over 70 public collections across the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, MoMa, and Guggenheim.
