About the artist

John Stezaker

British

b. 1949

John Stezaker is a British photographer and collage-artist and graduated from the Slade School of Art in London. He creates collages from a wide variety of found images, including movie stills, postcards, and illustrations to create new meanings out of old images. His art has surreal influences and often subverts classic photographs and images to make a disjointed new work of art. His pieces have been featured in The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
