About the artist

Armen Eloyan

Armenian

b. 1966

Armen Eloyan is a painter and sculptor born in 1966 in Yerevan, Armenia. His artwork is inspired by a childhood spent in Soviet-controlled Armenia. Eloyan worked as the studio assistant of Robert Sahakyants, a famous Armenian animator, who contributed to Eloyan's usage of cartoon figures and impasto in his paintings. His work includes absurdist, sardonic images that border on abstract. He studied at Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Eloyan now works out of Zürich, Switzerland.
