About the artist

Charles Basham

American

b. 1952

American painter known for his visually stimulating oil and pastel landscapes. Born in Ohio, Basham received his B.F.A and M.F.A from Kent State University. After teaching painting for almost a decade, he retired to focus on his own paintings. He takes inspiration from the surrounding landscape, focusing on the energy and impact of light on a landscape. His work captures dramatic and compelling moments over the farmlands of the midwest and lowlands of the South Carolina.
