About the artist

Carol Summers

American

1925-2016

Studied classical and studio art at Bard College and the Art Students League of New York. Studied painting under Steven Hirsh and printmaking under Louis Schanker. Received a grant to study in Italy where he began creating woodcuts. Works reside in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, le Biblioteque National, Paris, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Seattle Art Museum among many other institutions.
