About the artist

Clara Couch

American

1923-2004

Ceramic artist. Couch studied biology at Agnes Scott College. On her trip to Europe in her 40's, she was inspired to learn about clay. She earned an art degree at Sacred Heart College in Belmont and her graduate degree at the New York School of Ceramic Art at Alfred University. She then taught clay at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte.
