About the artist

Jo Whitten

American

Jo Whitten (also known as Cecil Jo Whitten) is an American photographer, video artist, and printmaker. She co-founded the women's artist gallery, Center Gallery, with fellow artist friends to exhibit art and provide educational programs for the local community. She studied printmaking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later pursued video production at the Visual Studies Workshop in New York. Her works often capture imagined scenes and relationships that exist only in reflections.
