In 1990, after completing her studies in fine arts, Valerie Pascale Lauzon (VPL) traveled to Australia, where the sanctuary of sculptor William Ricketts in the Dandenong Ranges left a profound impression on her. Upon her return, she began sculpting purely for the pleasure of creating, while in a field outside the arts.
In 1997, a neighbour who had seen her sculpting in her garage, commissioned, after seing a prototype, a life-size angel for a funerary monument. This bronze piece is located at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery in Montreal.
In 2006, Renée Borduas, daughter of painter Paul-Émile Borduas, commissioned VPL to create a life-size angel for her mother's burial site. This large-scale monument, also cast in bronze, was installed at Ste-Cécile-de-Milton Cemetery.
In the years that followed, VPL created a large number of terracotta works mounted on stone, including busts of men and women intertwined with animals and various creatures. Several of these works have been acquired through private sales.
In 2016, Michel Buruiana, an impresario and arts agent, introduced VPL to businesswoman Danièle Blouin, who commissioned a work for a family memorial monument. This bronze sculpture, characterized by a more personal artistic expression is located at Mount-Royal Cemetery and is included in the cemetery's "Remarkable Monuments" registry.
Another bronze memorial monument is installed at St-François-Xavier Cemetery in Bromont since 2023.
