About the artist

Mikayla Whitmore

Whitmore was born in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1988. They received their Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where they graduated in 2010. They were selected as the Best Photographer in the city of Las Vegas by Desert Companion; they won a 3rd place distinction from Best of the West for a photo essay on the Mojave Desert. A Resident Artist at both the Cosmopolitan (2015) and the Neon Museum (2016), their work has appeared at Torrence Art Museum, CA, Humble Arts Foundation, NY, and in galleries across Las Vegas, including Donna Beam Gallery of Fine Art, Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art, and the Contemporary Art Center. They currently live and work in Las Vegas, Nevada.
