Brooke Sauer is a Los Angeles-based artist working in painting, printmaking, collage, and alternative photographic methods. Brooke is an avid hiker and naturalist, and spends much of her time observing and learning about nature, and reflecting on our symbiotic connection to it. Her series of hand cut collages entitled, In Search of Treasure, are part of a yearlong project in which she created one collage a day for one year with images sourced from vintage books and magazines. Inspired by the time she spent rock hunting with her parents as a child, Brooke imagined shrinking down very small and investigating each rock as a unique environment.

Brooke explores our relationship to landscape as both a physical and metaphorical terrain to enjoy and protect - one that inspires feelings of curiosity, renewal, and inspiration. She hopes to entice viewers to go outside and explore their own internal landscape as they interact with and observe nature. Brooke received her BFA from Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, CA, and her MFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
