Tracy Murrell is a visual artist and curator based in Atlanta, Georgia, whose work explores narrative and culture through a distinctive visual vocabulary. Her exhibitions span solo, group, and juried shows, with recognition in Create! Magazine, ArtVoices, New American Paintings, and Atlanta Magazine's Home. In 2022, she received ArtFolio's Gold award in Traditional Painting. In 2025, she was featured on the cover of Atlanta Magazine's September issue.
Notable residencies include The Hambidge Center, Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and international programs in Panama and Morocco. As a 2022 Brown University CSREA Practitioner Fellow and Artist-in-Studio resident with The Creative Project, Murrell has expanded her practice into community engagement and public art.
Her solo exhibitions include "Wayna: Her Dreams of Ethiopia" (Albany Museum of Art, 2022), which combines papercut Ethiopian crosses with family narratives, and "Dans l'espoir d'un Avenir Meilleur" (Hammonds House Museum, 2022), an exploration of Haitian migration through the female perspective.
Murrell serves on the Atlanta Beltline Public Art Advisory Council and has gained international recognition through her collaboration with German publisher Rowohlt, creating covers for eight Toni Morrison books, including "Beloved" and "Solomon's Song." Her work is displayed internationally, including large-scale installations at the Jnane Tamsna hotel in Marrakech.
Murrell's work is in prestigious collections, including those of Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Home Depot, and multiple hotels and libraries throughout the Southeast.
