Weaver has worked in a variety of mediums and techniques: ink, charcoal, lithograph, oil paint, woodcut, pencil and pastel. Though he briefly experimented with abstraction in the 1950s and 1960s, Weaver is best known for his realistic and intimate portraiture and subjects taken from nature. These works are deeply connected to his own history and his experiences growing up in rural Kansas.
