James C. Blake known as "Buckeye Blake" is an American Postwar & Contemporary artist whose experience as a working cowboy gave him first-hand knowledge of western subjects. Buckeye grew up traveling the rodeo circuit with his father. His paintings and bronzes exhibit a fanciful, graphic style mixed with a taste for pop culture interpretations of western figures.

Mostly self-taught, Blake studied the works of Charles M. Russell and Maynard Dixon. He is know for vintage travel poster influenced works, a life-size bronze of Charles M. Russell in downtown Great Falls, Montana, and heroic size bronze of Kit Carson in front of the capital in Carson City, Nevada. In 1993 Blake had a retrospective at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.
