and raised in Prince Georges County area of Maryland.
Drawing since age four he has always been into depicting figures and people. He developed a love for painting in college while attending college at the University of Maryland. While at Maryland he majored in Art with a concentration of Graphic Design & Illustration. He accidentally found a painting course when a web-design class he wanted was not available and decided to try painting class for the first time. It was his first time using any oil paint. His first critique made him realize he needed to really do major studying and development of his skills outside of class. Within the end of the course he was amongst the best in the class. Mr. James graduated from University of Maryland with a Bachelor's in Art (concentration in Graphic Design & Illustration).
Mr. James media of choice is oil realism and specializes in portraiture mostly depicting with energy, emotions and vibrancy of his subject. His preferred subject is public figures ranging from politicians to athletes.
Besides oilpainting Mr. James writes, designs and illustrates children's books for authors and his own personal books most notably The Pecan series featuring: Pecan's Spelling Bee Championship, Pecan's First Day of School, Pecan Runs for Class President & Pecan's Field Day. Pecan is loosely based on Mr. James's childhood experiences.
