Tamara Rafkin is an artist whose work explores the connection between emotion, place, and belonging through the lens of architectural landscapes. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, she has lived in various parts of the United States and in Belgium, experiences that continue to shape how she thinks about environment, memory, and what it means to feel at home.

Her practice moves across mediums using photography, assemblage, ceramics, and sculpture. Through these materials, she looks at how spaces—both built and natural—can hold feeling and personal history. Her work often sits between representation and abstraction, creating images and objects that feel familiar but slightly out of place, inviting viewers to reflect on their own relationship to the spaces around them.

Rafkin’s work is held in private and public collections in the U.S. and internationally. In 2025, she was an artist-in-residence at the Taoxichuan International Artist Residency at the Taoxichuan Art Center in Jingdezhen, China, and had the honor of attending the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina as the recipient of the 2025 University of North Texas Ceramics Scholarship.

Rafkin recently completed her MFA at the University of North Texas is continuing her art practice in the Fort Worth area.
