This series of abstract painting pairs begins with shared origins — bold mark-making, saturated colour, and expressive form. As each pair develops, the works diverge: one retains its vibrant, extroverted energy; the other turns inward, quieting the composition and masking space between shapes. Through sanding, layering, and restraint, I explore how contrast can emerge from common ground. These pairs reflect yin and yang energies — not opposites, but complements. Together, they invite viewers to consider: Where do you see yourself? What do you sense beneath the surface?
