This is labor as I’ve known it, not just physical, but emotional and spiritual. The woman is caught in a powerful moment: pushing, breathing, held by hands that believe in her. I wanted to honor the rawness and bravery of birth, the way support can be silent and strong. From above, we witness both vulnerability and strength. This painting is for every mother who’s crossed that threshold, who has become something new while bringing someone new into the world.
