Sunny Dawn Freeman specializes in realistic oil painting, utilizing dramatic contrast and rich textures to transform ordinary environments into sacred sanctuaries of reflection. Her portfolio spans intimate, sun-drenched realism to visionary surrealism, with a successful track record in public and private commissions, including nearly a dozen large-scale murals.

As a child, Sunny felt a constant urge to create, spending long hours making handmade books, calendars, and painted furniture. Her formal path began in rural Wyoming under high school mentor Chris Amend, who instilled a lifelong foundation of technical excellence.

After graduating summa cum laude in anthropology from Colorado State University, Sunny dedicated decades to social activism, sustainability, and community building, with art as her constant undercurrent. Her professional pivot arrived in 2018 when she co-founded the Winging It gallery in Nampa, Idaho—curating exhibits, teaching, and securing her first major patron. A subsequent mentorship with Bruce Boatner introduced her to oils, a medium she embraced for its unmatched depth.

Deeply connected to Idaho's Treasure Valley, Sunny and her fiancé, Eric, reside in Boise, staying close to her children and granddaughter in nearby Nampa.
