Invented landscapes built from imagination rather than observation. Believable spaces that never existed, where I let the composition, subject, and narrative emerge as the painting unfolds. They carry memory, mood, and my response to the times I'm living through, and are meant to be felt more than fully understood.

The paintings from my solo exhibition of about 35 works at the Novi Civic Center in November 2024, a show I mounted myself as an independent, unrepresented artist. I'm a transplant to Michigan from Oklahoma, trained elsewhere, with sensibilities that don't quite match what you usually find around here, and I wear that like a badge of honor. The work began in observed scenes and became something more through expressive color and its own narratives, dealing with transience, loss, and discovery.

Work made for collectors. Some are portraits and scenes painted from life or reference. Others, like Summers at Lake Ann, reconstruct places that no longer exist, built from old photographs, maps, and a collector's memories into a space that feels real.
